About us

Funded by the Arts Council of Wales and the Baring Foundation, the Green Ribbon Arts Festival is a brand new event in Wales to promote how the arts can prevent mental ill health, challenge perceptions, and improve artist’s networking. The event is ‘powered by the Mental Health Foundation’

The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) has a vision of good mental health for all. It works to prevent mental health problems. It wants to drive change towards a mentally healthy society for all, and support communities, families, and individuals to live mentally healthier lives, with a focus on those at greatest risk. It is also the home of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Amid the challenges presented by Covid 19, the festival will initially see an online-only event in October of this year, with the intention of holding physical events with small gatherings in March next year.

The event is inspired by the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, now in its 14th year and led by the Mental Health Foundation, and previous mental health arts festivals in Wales that were organised by Disability Arts Cymru

Throughout the festival, we will enable networking between artists, creative practitioners, arts organisations, venues, policy makers, academics, funders, and other stakeholders who support the arts and mental health in Wales.

Our starting point for this, is by working alongside the Wales Arts Health & Well-being Network.
